Kiss me goodbye
For the doctors are comin’
We all know why
Because I wasn’t born
Here we go again
As time passes by here
We don’t live and lie here
We’re all going to die
In the end

… if you just read that you might think it’s some kind of emo song. heck no.
“12 = 3″ by Imarobot.

One of my favorite tracks off of the pretty old album.

CYCLE, my first short film

I have finished my first “real” (well sorta) short short film. I wrote, directed, filmed (with some help), and edited the whole thing. I submitted this as my final project for my digital media class, and I am pleased with the final product. Head over HERE to watch. I would suggest the direct download options.

Just so everyone knows, it’s just a story… and it’s easy to write sad stories, but the point is the turn around. It’s the cycle of life.

Everybody remember, it’s a film, I acted. That is that. I don’t even smoke, hahaha.

More film notes
I/We filmed everything in one day. I began editing that night, then it took me in total 3-4 days to get everything together. I went strictly Mac based on this project. I usually use Adobe Premiere yet decided to use the Powerbook and Final Cut in full force. It is a great editing environment, yet as any new complex program it took some time finding things I needed. Overall I really love creating on the Mac platform.. yet that’s a topic for another post.

If you read my notes on the site, you’ll notice I only had the first half of the film planned out. Basically for the second “positive” side I wanted to do everything opposite. Basically I ran out of time, thus the montage for the second half of the very short film.

My friend Lucas who I colaborate on projects frequently did the awesome animations of the circle and breaking of the circle.

Random problems: Audio not working on footage for opening monologue, uhhhh the black line on the right side of the frame in alot of shots.

Not adding in Brittany as “Light and Sound Engineer.” haha

There are a couple things many things that bug me about the world/people/U.S. Today I’m going to discuss a couple.
1)) Hillary Clinton’s $90 million study on video games and children and
2)) The Urban Outfitters “New Mexico is cleaner than regular Mexico” t-shirt

1)) Hillary Clinton video game study
WHY?? Seriously. Is this some stunt to get all the concerned/angry mothers on her side? Is this some political media stunt to gain attention? Video games and violence have gone hand in hand for years, along with studies of their effects. Why the huge media attention now? The article Hillary vs. the Xbox: Game over [7/27/05] by Steven Johnson in the LA Times is a perfect response to the issue.

I’d like to draw your attention to another game whose nonstop violence and hostility has captured the attention of millions of kids — a game that instills aggressive thoughts in the minds of its players, some of whom have gone on to commit real-world acts of violence and sexual assault after playing.

I’m talking, of course, about high school football.

One thing he didn’t really touch on: the money being spent studying video games. The only good thing about it, is that people have jobs! Hooray for employment! The other side is, isn’t there alot better things to be spending money on? Grand Theft Auto has created media attention since GTA3 Vice City. Oh and get this, Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas, the game that has sparked all this attention by Hillary, was released in October 2004! I guess it took her awhile to play the game, then decide it’s better to make a big deal about it because she couldn’t beat it.

2))Urban Outfitters “New Mexico is cleaner than regular Mexico” t-shirt
Guess what, there are tons of offensive t-shirts out there. It just depends on who you talk to. That’s what free speech is. Big deals like this make me want to shop at the store more / buy the shirt. I like to shop at Urban Outfitters and I won’t stop. Don’t forget the business side of it. Funny sells. Especially when it comes to t-shirts, and even more so in the 15-28 age range. It’s things like this that I wonder who first decided it would be a good idea to attack Urban Outfitters. Was it an angry customer? Somebody with an agenda? Both? However it may have started, this is just another trend in the media. Pick on something that everybody else can pick on to. Also, Urban Outfitters didn’t create that shirt, they just bought a bunch from… well lets see if you can find the original seller/creator.

Future of weblogs

Interesting read from CNET.com titled The future of bloggin I thought this little bit was quite interesting.

The growth rate of blogs is impressive. Technorati, a search engine that monitors blogs, tracked more than 8 million online diaries as of March 21, up from 100,000 just two years ago. A new blog is created every 7.4 seconds. That adds up to 12,000 new blogs a day, 275,000 posts a day and 10,800 updates an hour.

That’s alot of weblogs. This here blog has been around for almost a year, not counting my first couple months over at my old weblog and also not to mention my couple months that I lost when I screwed up my system. So I would say I’ve been “blogging” for way over a year now.

I would for sure say there is a future to weblogs. Celebrities have weblogs, political figures have weblogs, weblogs or rather blogs are everywhere now. Last year and 2003 was an explosion of weblogs. Do you have one? Link it in the comments…

Speaking of comments, today this weblog reached the 100th comment which I am very happy to reach. Make some more comments of your own!

symbolic cemetary

We all walk through our symbolic cemetaries.
Passing each etched stone remembering the past.
Swallowing our tears row by row.
We fight the battle of our impulses.
Loosing grip, slipping to our knees as we pass the name.
What is in that name, a dream, a hope, a life.

Listen to the drops hit the stone.
Glistening sunlight reflects off the slow falling mist.
A soothing rain in this symbolic cemetary.
Off dark and light, gray clouds and blue sky.
Grief or joy, you remember the lost past.
Only to look up from the stone, to the path out.

Just something I had been working on this week. It’s been raining so much, and on my drive from San Diego to Pomona yesterday symbolic cemetary popped into my head. It is so meaningful on so many levels. So I put a little something together. Comments your throughts are appreciated.

I’m Mr. Right.

I’m right handed.
I write right.
Right is the way to be.
I’m sometimes always right.
You are right.
I like to say, “right oh chap”
Right hand drivers are wrong in my right book.
You’re right in my book.
You are right up my alley.
Right?

Just a funny poem I wrote a while back. If I’m your Mr. Right, and you are a female, let me know. Thanks.

Medicine for the Cold

Sickness sets you in to a world of withdrawn retreat.
Modest Mouse flowing from the speakers.
What about the good news for people who like bad news?
I just have a cloud over my face.
Can’t see the world is faded.

Rock to the many noises in your clogged ears.
Not exactly clear, not exactly muddy.
The cold monopolizes on you, your sight, hearing, tasting, feeling.
Leaving a numb feel of the world.
No control over what you feel, how you may perceive.
What mood is there to be in except that which is available?
High treason on your own head.
You chose to not fight back

Just the numb world now.
I need my medicine and music.
I need this cold to pass.
I will be better when I get my medicine.
My medicine is you.

I have one of those darn colds and just decided to write. My head is all cloudy. There is a couple different themes in this here piece. The reader decided what he or she decides to see.

One day I’ll see you standing there.
One day I’ll know what I want.
One day I’ll see the rain fall and we will be together.
One day we will lay by the warming fire.
One day we will see past each others eyes.
One day we will lay in each others arms.
One day is one day ahead of today.

A poem while sitting here looking out into the rain.
