X&Y

Coldplay - X&Y

Quite the excellent album. I’ve been listening to it straight for the last 10 hours or so, and I enjoy every second of it. It’s just the usual beautiful music and lyrics by Coldplay. I have really enjoyed the last two albums A Rush of Blood to the Head and Parachutes, and this album is no exception. To me it a perfect summer opener.

Some of my favorites off of X&Y are “Square One,” “Speed of Sound,” and “Low,” yet to tell you the truth, they are all awesome songs. The album artwork is inspirational aswell, so I encourage you to take a listen.

Guero

Beck is an all around awesome artist. For myself, it is also all around good listening music. At this moment I am listen to the album Mutations and also Guero which are both very good albums. Guero is the latest album and it has a very good different sound to it. There is some rock, some electronica, and just good sounds overall. In some ways I am reminded of Sting’s “Brand New Day” album which was experimental for him yet came out great. You might have seen/heard Becks latest single “e-pro” which is a good single. If you have not heard it, you can listen on Amazon.com

With this album I think Beck is actually getting some attention he deserves as an artist. I remember I bought the Mutations album years ago, I think when I was around 16. Granted I only listened to it a couple of times, yet recently I found it in my cd case and ripped it to my computer for some listening pleasure. I am very pleased, and I think you might be too.

Becks website is very creative and cool to explore.

Silent Alarm

BLOC PARTY - Silent Alarm
Over the last couple weeks I have been constantly listening to this album. It is the bands first major release, and it is awesome. It’s one of those awesome albums that I usually talk about that you can listen to all the way through. It’s awesome background music (for me) as well as all the time listening.

They remind me a bit of Moving Units, yet Bloc Party is alot better sounding to me. This album has had some pretty good publicity, and I’ve actually heard of the band for awhile, just never listened… I’m so glad Angela had me listen to them.

They have and awesome sound and I really like the style of the band aswell. Enjoy some of it over at their website, blocparty.com

Muse Absolution

Muse : Absolution

I just started listening to Muse a bit of time ago, and I really like them. It is a unique sound that is exceptionally awesome, especially when it comes to songs with the piano in it. The band has released a few cd’s and from what I have heard between Absolution and Showbiz they makes some awesome music. The lead singers voice flows melodically with the relatively hard rock combined with meaningful lyrics create an awesome album and band.

Some of my favorites from this album would be “Time is running out,” “Stockholm Syndrome,” and a others. As for myself, there really isn’t a bad song on the album.

Billy Talent : Billy Talent

Let me tell you, after listening to these guys this summer, and then just getting the cd again, it’s hard to stop listening. These guys are intense and just plain awesome. On top of their awesome music, they have awesome music videos over at the bands official website, BillyTalent.com

A few of my favorite songs are “Line & Sinker,” “Try Honesty,” and “River Below.” Don’t get me wront though, all the songs are good. The lead singers voice is intense and unique that make the music even better. They just have that “awesome band” feel to them. Look out for them, they are touring in Canada right now, I hope they come to the US soon.

If you don’t feel like droping 11 bucks for the cd, go over to their website and listen to their music their, then come back here and buy the cd. If you are into bands like Thursday, Thrice, Sum 41, Unwritten Law, and the likes of them, then you will really want to check out Billy Talent.

What have I been doing?

Really, what have I been doing? Kind of lots of things. Like homework, even though I don’t have to go to class alot. It’s kind of interesting topic. I’ve been accumulating more and more photos and more and more organization has to take take more time in my day.

One other thing that is a wee bit on the corney side, yet I like creating things…. I’ve been working on making little films with a webcam. It’s the only thing I have right now and I decided to bust it out and put it to some use.

You know what else? Lots and lots of good music as of late. For instance Billy Talent’s latest self titled album is very good. Don’t forget about the released this week’s release of Jimmy Eat World’s “Futures” albumI must say, it is very good aswell. Their latest single “pain” is wildly popular and I’m sure it’s boosting their cd sales. Check them out and get the cds.

IN HONOR: A Compilation To Beat Cancer

Here is something that your money is worth. This is a 2-disc compilation set filled with artists such as Thursday, Thrice, The Bouncing Souls, My Chemical Romance, Saves the Day and many many others. I bought this cd on pre-order awhile ago after reading about it on one of my favorite bands websites, Thursday.net. Thursday placed one of their tracks on the 2 disc set aswell as many many other artists with unreleased tracks.

I really think this cd set is important and should be purchased for a couple of reasons. One, last year my cousin fought through cancer. He was in 8th grade when diagnosed. When I first heard that he had cancer I was crushed. I thought “how could my little cousin contract such a horrible sickness at such a young age?” (continue reading…)

coverI’ve been listening to these guys since their album Light a Match for I Deserve to Burn which was released in September 2002. I first heard “Circular Parade” and became hooked. The rest of the songs on the cd are really good. It’s genre would be I guess hardcore emo if I had to put it in something because there is yelling and whatnot. The lead singer, Josh Hagquist has both a hard voice and a very melodic voice that blends perfectly with the instrumentals which I think I are awesome. They put together some hard beats and riffs that come out great.

The latest Lost Prophets album - “Start Something” is pretty sweet. It’s a change from their previous album, yet a good change in my minds eye. Some may say it’s not as hard as the fake sound of progress yet this cd has some great tracks. Take for instance the hit single “Last Train Home.” Everybody likes that song including myself, yet there is lots more where that came from. For example “Make a Move,” “Burn Burn,” “Hello again” and “To hell we ride” are all good ones. Speaking for myself, this cd is one that I can listen to every track all the way through. Whereas in the Fake sound of progress I find myself skipping only to songs that I like.

the killers, hot fusscover

The Killers debut cd Hot Fuss came out last month, and I bought it on that exact day. I had first heard their hit single “Somebody Told Me” on the tv’s in my cafeteria at cal poly. I thought to myself, “these guys are awesome!” They are a cool british-like rock band from Las Vegas.

It’s evolution, see. The unique habitat in which our subjects developed, their native characteristics shaped by external factors (in this case Messrs. Morrissey, Bowie, Ocasek, Gallagher, Presley, Smith, Sumner, Corgan, Cocker, Byrne, Lennon, to name but a few…) would go towards creating a band so clearly the product of their environment and yet so perfectly adapted to becoming a truly dominant species in the world of pop.
