Danny Way famous for many things, is going to jump over the great wall of china tomorrow. This is just rediculous. He is going to most likely break his other records for height and distance. On top of that three world records.
Way hopes to set a world record by becoming the first human being in history to successfully leap the Great Wall without motorized assistance while simultaneously breaking his own skateboarding world records for distance (79ft/24.07m) and unaided height out of a ramp (23.5ft/7.14m).
Danny Way is probably the second most well known skateboarder next to Tony Hawk in the public eye. I used to skate alot back in the day before college, and actually met him. He’s quite a nice guy and it’s amazing that he is still doing huge things like this at his age. I’m not saying he is “old” but rather he has gone through a bunch of stunts and injuries and I’m really excited to see how this one works out. Here’s a quote from the site:
“It’s big. Really big,” exclaimed Way. “The last time I was in China was January and it was freezing cold and we were trying to picture how the ramp would look. It’s definitely going to make me go a lot higher and a lot faster and a lot further than I’ve ever been before. It’s going to scare me, but we’ll get it done.”
“I’m going to hold on for dear life and do the biggest air I’ve ever done and hope for the best. The whole thing is intimidating for sure. I’m confident, but I’m also nervous, if that makes sense.”
Here is some more crazy words:
“Basically when I clear the Wall and hit the landing ramp, I’ll be going close to 50 miles per hour,” explained Way. “If I need to, I can burn off some speed, depending on how I control my skateboard with my legs. The quarter-pipe is about three times the size of the average vert. (vertical) ramp and a lot wider so it’s good to know I can get the trajectory I need to go for the height record and I’ll also have plenty of space to land.”
