PalmOne “Life Drives”

In this cnet blog post there is talk about Palm One confirming that they are going to be using a 4gb micro hard drive in one of their new handhelds. This is a freaking novel idea. I say “freaking” because I’ve been thinking about this for awhile now. I always wanted a PDA with a mini hard drive in it. Yes there is some handhelds that have a gigabyte of space, yet that is still not a mini hard drive, yet just a large flash memory module. (Correct me if I’m missing something)

Now that hard drives are getting smaller and cheaper, they are going to put into everything. Hence there being so many portable music players out there with a large amount of space in a small package. Players such as the iPod, iRiver Creative players, Virgin players, and like a whole lot more. Now you can get a hybrid PDA that is your camera, life manager, music player, and telephone all in one. (my palm zire does all that except it is not a phone)

I can’t wait to see how these work out.

gmail rss

While checking my gmail today, I noticed the little “RSS” button pictured here. I thought “What is that for in my email?” So I clicked it, and you know what it did? Opened up a feed for my unread emails! I was like “WHOAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA” The other cool thing is that if you try to load the atom feed, you must login which is much needed just for security purposes.

I don’t remember any talk of this pretty neat feature, so I thought I would post it just because I thought it was cool, and somebody might have a use for it. Technically many things can be done to use this feature, I just don’t have the time right now to do anything about it.

If you don’t this jabbering I am talking about “feeds” and such, read about news aggregators. That article also links to information about feeds.

If you want a gmail.com email account (which is now up to 2gb’s free storage) let me know by commenting or sending me an email to danisblan@gmail.com

*Update*Over at evhead there is talk of other RSS features within gmail. All the comments here and on evhead add more to the discussion.

Hey! Another new design! I’m currently still working out the bugs with this one but I wanted it to go live because I didn’t like using that theme anymore. I wanted to use my own work, so now that is what you see.

Let me know in the comments if there is problems. Make sure to tell me what internet browser you are using. Thanks

Silent Alarm

BLOC PARTY - Silent Alarm
Over the last couple weeks I have been constantly listening to this album. It is the bands first major release, and it is awesome. It’s one of those awesome albums that I usually talk about that you can listen to all the way through. It’s awesome background music (for me) as well as all the time listening.

They remind me a bit of Moving Units, yet Bloc Party is alot better sounding to me. This album has had some pretty good publicity, and I’ve actually heard of the band for awhile, just never listened… I’m so glad Angela had me listen to them.

They have and awesome sound and I really like the style of the band aswell. Enjoy some of it over at their website, blocparty.com

My Rating: 8.5 of 10

This week has been a whole lot of talk about the good ol Google Maps Satellite Photos. For very good reason… it’s awesome, yet also a little bit erie. You can put in your address and see a statellite photo of your house. Just seems a little wierd to me. On the other hand, really cool.

Here is some more talk on the web about the new Google Maps feature:”
Memory Maps, on the Flickr Blog and Memory Maps Photo Pool

Future of weblogs

Interesting read from CNET.com titled The future of bloggin I thought this little bit was quite interesting.

The growth rate of blogs is impressive. Technorati, a search engine that monitors blogs, tracked more than 8 million online diaries as of March 21, up from 100,000 just two years ago. A new blog is created every 7.4 seconds. That adds up to 12,000 new blogs a day, 275,000 posts a day and 10,800 updates an hour.

That’s alot of weblogs. This here blog has been around for almost a year, not counting my first couple months over at my old weblog and also not to mention my couple months that I lost when I screwed up my system. So I would say I’ve been “blogging” for way over a year now.

I would for sure say there is a future to weblogs. Celebrities have weblogs, political figures have weblogs, weblogs or rather blogs are everywhere now. Last year and 2003 was an explosion of weblogs. Do you have one? Link it in the comments…

Speaking of comments, today this weblog reached the 100th comment which I am very happy to reach. Make some more comments of your own!

Feeling artistic

my cloud

I felt artistic yesterday and today… So I decided to make myself a cloud. With some inspiration from Urban Outfitters store I went for it.

I ripped through a couple design magazines that I didn’t want to keep around anymore and found lots of photos and things that I liked. I am quite pleased with the results. It’s just mounted on regular cardboard and all glued together.

Eventually I would like to make something more permanent.

I saw Sin City tonight with the girlfriend and a few other friends. It was awesome to say the least. I’ve been tracking and waiting for this movie since about September… at least that’s when I started sincity.adion44.com.Which is a little fan site/blog that I put together.

Seriously, it’s amazing in alot of ways. I’m curious as to what other people have to say. I think many will find it confusing, yet the effects and filming is amazing. Of course you can go over to my Sin City fan site for a little bit more info.
