This weekend started off Spring Break 2005. It was quite the random intense awesome weekend. It was a good kickoff weekend full of long stories that I will summerize in this entry. The basic plan was to go up to Lauren’s cabin for the weekend. You will just have to read to see what actually happened.. Go ahead keep on reading! Oh… by the way, this post is super long. Just endure through it!

Friday
Angela, Raha, (my twin) and I tried to leave at around 2:30… yet didn’t actually leave until about 5 or so. All the while it’s raining… and traffic before we even make it to the highway to go up the mountains to Laurens cabin… which was the plan. Turns out it was snowing at Laurens cabin at the time and we decided it would be best to not try and drive up the mountain that night. After much deliberation I say, “We can stay at my house in San Diego and go in the morning.” That thus became the plan. In between this there was a couple hours in the car and us just saying, “What are we doing out here?” This was because it was raining and there was lots of traffic on the 15 south freeway and we should have just never left, yet it turned out for the best.

We continue on down the 15 south to San Diego and drop by my friend Cameron’s house where my other friends were. They say, “Let’s go bowling.” That became the plan. The best part about that plan was that it was going to basically be free because they had lots of tickets to get free games. The downside was that we would have to drive to Chula Vista, another 10-20 minutes away. Whatever though, free bowling! We make it down to the bowling ally, and they uptight bowling manager didn’t want to honor our tickets… but we prevailed! He checked with his superiors and thus we were able to bowl! We even got free shoe rental! Bowling was fun… yet we got bored and decided to hang out in the parking lot for awhile until everyone else was ready to go.

So we go get our shoes back… and go out to the car to see that everybody had left! All well… I had an idea, an excellent idea to go get some quesadilla’s. That plan pleased my fellow mates, and thus off to El Cotixan we went! We shared two delicious cheese quesadilla’s and hots sauce. (Raha has some photos of that moment which I will get from her and post here…) All the while during this driving from Chula Vista, Raha decided to become my personal secretary and call people on my cell phone and see what they were up to. That was enjoyable for both of us, and some people that we called. Most of everybody that was called was actually quite freaked out to have some random girl call them and leave a message from my phone. (Raha called my San Diego friends, that’s why she’s just a “random girl” at that point.)

After that, we decided it would be best to get some rest. I think it was about 1am. We wanted to leave at 8:30am to go up to Lauren’s cabin so it would be a good idea to get some rest. We make it back to my house and thus fall asleep quite quickly. Now onto Saturday!

Saturday
We actually end up waking up around 9:30 am and actually leave my house at around 11:00 am. We had a little bagel and cream cheese breakfast, as well as normal morning getting ready activities. We thought it would be a good safe idea to try and buy tire chains for Raha’s car (we were driving her car the whole time) because there might be snow driving up or down the mountain. After checking two auto parts stores I just grabbed an old set that was here at my house that would most likely fit her cars tires just to be safe. Then off we went! It was a foggy and wee bit rainy afternoon/morning drive all the way up to the cabin. We had to turn around a few times to get back going the right direction, but about 2 hours, 5000 feet in elevation and, and some off roading in Raha’s Honda Civic and we made it! That was at about 2:00 pm. We settled down and did pretty much the same thing for the next 10 hours or so. Just relaxed by the fire and hung out with each other. In all, at the cabin there as Lauren, Angela, Raha, Todd, Chris, Tony, and I. The fire was so warm and toasty. We just made food, listened to music, played some games, talked, and overall had a great time. Throughout this 10 hours or so expanse I could tell so many stories, I’d probably just have to write a book. I know Raha wants to write a book, so maybe we will collaberate on something.

For now, I think I’ll just through in one random story. For whatever reason, it was decided that we should take a little adventure outside at about 10pm or so. (I don’t really know what time it was… I took off all things that could have given me any kind of time.) We venture outside, and it’s super cold. That doesn’t phase us because it sneeks up on you anyways. We trek for like 5 minutes or so through the woods, then stop at some rocks. All the while telling scary stories and freaking each other out. Chris Raha and I were kind of secluded from the group when we made it to the rocks where we stopped for a moment. We proceeded to scare each other more by talking about all the bad things that could happen while we were out there alone. Raha and I especially freaked each other out when we started this story….

Setting: In the middle of the woods, really foggy, by a collection of large rocks on the edge of a steep hill. Trees covering us completely and the fog has a very dim glow from the moonlight that can only be seen faintly.

Raha: “Wouldn’t it be cool if like I came out here sleep walking and sat on these rocks all alone in the middle of the night?”
Me: “Yay and your eyes would be wide open and you would just be sitting on the rock, rocking back and forth?”
Raha: “Yeah, and I would like be making noises and …”
Me: “Ahh! Lets’ stop talking about this…”
Raha: “Yeah I’m freaked out.”
Me: “Yeah I just got the chills.”
Raha: “Ohhhh I’m scared.”
Me: “We just freaked ourselves out hardcore.”
Raha: “Yeah.”
Me: “Yeah… uhhh… let’s talk about something else.”

We head back to the cabin and warm back up, staying inside for the remainder of the night. I could continue on with all sorts of stories and things we talked about… but like I said, maybe I’ll write a book or something like that. After awhile, we all end up going to sleep. It was quite the cold night. I’m very glad that I had my backpacking sleeping bag which kept me toasty warm as I huddled up inside of it on top of one of the beds that was available. Now onto Sunday.

Sunday
I get up at 10:00am and get Raha up so that we can head back to school and she can get home to Irvine for the Persian New Year. After warming by the fire and packing up and saying goodbye to Lauren and Angela, (everybody else was asleep) we head back down the mountian.

Time passed quickly as we talked about dreams and a plethora of interesting things. More things that will go into a book or a larger project than just a super long weblog entry. We tried to eat at Nessy Burger for lunch which was just a burger stand righ at the 76 and 15. Unfortunately it was closed, so Raha made me a hummous and pita bread sandwich with crumpled sun chips. You should really try it, it’s an excellent creation that we had on the drive up the mountain. Raha gets all the credit for that creation. We make it back to school pretty quickly and here I am. I’ve just been unpacking and hanging out.

It was actually quite the random weekend for those of us (Angela, Raha, and I) who took part in it first hand. There are lots of stories we could tell you that would place you right there in the moment. So there you go, the beginning of Spring Break 2005! I have to work Monday through Wednesday… but the adventures will continue Thursday through Sunday! Thanks for reading and comments are appreciated if you made it this far.

Hi. I read in your entry that Sunday your tried to eat at Nessy Burger but that it was closed. My parents stopped there Saturday and it was closed also. We go to Calrsbad every year and get a Nessy Burger on the way home. Is Nessy Burger closed for good or is it just temporary? Do you know?? Please let me know if you know anything. We love the place and would hate to see it close. Have a great day :-)
