bacon fried rice

Welcome to my first installment of the series, “Fried Rice for the masses.” Throughout my writings, I will discuss the many different kinds of fried rice you can make and enjoy. It’s quite simple and fun and tasty.

Read on for this weeks Fried Rice For The Masses : Spicy Bacon Fried Rice.

We will start with the ingredients needed for Spicy Bacon fried rice.

- Rice - of course! it puts the “rice” in “fried rice”
- Bacon - any kind will do, we used regular smoked.
- Green Onions - Bought from the Cal Poly farm store, very good.
- Eggs - Any kind of normal eggs
- Habanero Pepper - To add the “spicy” in this fried rice

Alrighty, here’s how it goes down. There is no real order to anything yet I’ll break it down for you right here.

- Start to cook the rice. - It usually takes the longest even in a rice cooker and depending on how much you are making
- “Middle” Preparations - All the cutting of vegetables and cooking of meet and scrambling of the eggs
- Put it all together. - Collect your ingredients together and throw rice and the rest of the stuff into the frying pan, or as we use, and electric skillet. Mix and warm for a bit and there you go!

Some tips from this set.

- Add a bunch of butter to the rice before frying together.
- Mince the Habanero pepper nice and fine. This way it makes the fried rice a little spcy all over, and then you won’t just chomp into one and set a blaze in your mouth.
- Don’t fry for too long. Just fry long enough to warm everything and until the rice is golden brown.

Pretty easy I tell you, and very tasty. This meal had the hint of being spicy, yet the egg and rice and bacon nuetralized it so it just added a good taste to the plate.

Serving Size: 4-6 people (i used 4 cups of long grain rice)
Price: Cheap - About $10.00 for ingredients not including rice.

Leave comments if you made it and liked this version of fried rice. More to come!
