Here’s a little followup of this entry I wrote a couple days ago about the new RIO player. Turns out Gizmodo has an article on such the player. Click here to see the Gizmodo article
By the way, I stole this picture from their website. Check it out. Looks sleek and stuff.

the killers, hot fusscover

The Killers debut cd Hot Fuss came out last month, and I bought it on that exact day. I had first heard their hit single “Somebody Told Me” on the tv’s in my cafeteria at cal poly. I thought to myself, “these guys are awesome!” They are a cool british-like rock band from Las Vegas.

It’s evolution, see. The unique habitat in which our subjects developed, their native characteristics shaped by external factors (in this case Messrs. Morrissey, Bowie, Ocasek, Gallagher, Presley, Smith, Sumner, Corgan, Cocker, Byrne, Lennon, to name but a few…) would go towards creating a band so clearly the product of their environment and yet so perfectly adapted to becoming a truly dominant species in the world of pop.

Rant at UHS

I get a piece of mail today from Cal Poly Pomona’s University Housing Services. (UHS) I was curious what it said, thus I opened as any other person would. Come to find out UHS is charging me $15.00 for a dirty trashcan! You see, this is all fine and dandy, I’m not so much mad at UHS, but rather my roommates. I moved out a day before them. (I had 2 roommates) We had been using my trashcan as the community trashcan the whole year which makes me completely frustrated that they probably cleaned theirs, but not mine. So thanks to you Daniel and Noah. That was real cool.

Flickr.com is one of those cool “photo communities.” I’ve been a member for a little while now, just messing around. There is actually alot of people using the FREE service. Here’s what you can do, plus alot alot more that I don’t even know about. You can upload photos, share them, have buddys, chat, and like I said, lots of other stuff.

flickr.com

One of the “lots of other stuff” is the cool feature now in the side bar of the last 3 Flickr photos uploaded. Click and see em! I’m not really into the whole chatting and whatnot in the Flickr Live feature, yet I have done it and it is entertaining. So if you have photos, and want to be able to show them to other people or something like that, check out flickr.com Yes I know there are tons of other services just like this one, yet this is the one I am currently using, and I’ll get to the others later. Feel free to leave a comment with your Flickr.com photo gallery!

Ipod Challenger, RIO

Rio Audio is said to be releasing a mp3 player that will challenge the iPod mini, as found in this article Sounds pretty sweet actually.

The Rio Carbon, shaped like a slim wedge and weighing 3.2 ounces, uses Seagate Technology’s new 1-inch, 5-GB hard drive and touts up to 20 hours of playback time on a rechargeable battery. It will cost $250 and be available in late August, said Rio’s vice president of product marketing.
- Wired

That sounds pretty awesome to me. $250 is a little much for just 5 gb’s of space. I would say drop it down to say, $195.00 and they would sell. As long as it works well and people like it. They have the “cool looking” part down by giving it a cool shape, but it has to be easy to use for people to really like it.

Personally, I like the new iRiver players. They look really nice and have lots of features comparable to the iPod. I just want the prices to go down, or money to grow on a tree only for me.

Some links to related players:

iRiver iFP-180T 128 MB MP3 Player
iRiver iFP-190T 256 MB Digital Audio Player

Rio Nitrus 1.5 GB MP3 Jukebox

Crazy busy around here

So today, or rather yesterday I was supposed to register for classes. I have all my classes I need printed out and organized so that I can place what goes where, yet I have a problem. That problem would be that I am trying to change majors, and it’s quite the process I’m finding out. I’m changing from Computer Science, to Computer Information Systems. This new major is more of what I want to do in a career rather than computer science which is alot more math and programming.

On top of that, I have work and more work. Some random things to do in my room, i full website redesign for a client, new clutch in the car (uncle is doing it and putting a performance clutch in weeee, more later) then there is my everyday job which is right now landscaping a front yard. Lots and lots of hard labor. I wish I was doing my usual woodworking stuff. (I work for a fine woodworking company) Anyways, I just wanted to rant a bit before I acquire some much needed sleep and have another crazy day tomorrow. I’ll follow up soon on the classes and whatnot.

fear and loathing in las vegas cover

After watching Johnny Depp’s performance in Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas I have nothing other to say than he is the coolest drug addict ever. His movements and just the way he functions is completely entertaining throughout the whole movie. I just finished watching it again and let me tell you that Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas is one of those movies where you always see something new the next time you watch it. In every scene there is alot of things happening all at once. It is one thing to just watch Johnny Depp walk around all funny, but then to take into account where he is and what he is saying is another story.
