Rio Audio is said to be releasing a mp3 player that will challenge the iPod mini, as found in this article Sounds pretty sweet actually.

The Rio Carbon, shaped like a slim wedge and weighing 3.2 ounces, uses Seagate Technology’s new 1-inch, 5-GB hard drive and touts up to 20 hours of playback time on a rechargeable battery. It will cost $250 and be available in late August, said Rio’s vice president of product marketing.

That sounds pretty awesome to me. $250 is a little much for just 5 gb’s of space. I would say drop it down to say, $195.00 and they would sell. As long as it works well and people like it. They have the “cool looking” part down by giving it a cool shape, but it has to be easy to use for people to really like it.

Personally, I like the new iRiver players. They look really nice and have lots of features comparable to the iPod. I just want the prices to go down, or money to grow on a tree only for me.
