Just out of curiosity I decided to log into my not used at all anymore yahoo mail account. I was in for quite a surprise! It turns out that I am a “special” long time user and now I get some new stuff. Well, i’m not really special, they just give everybody 100 mbs of free email space now. I think it’s because of the whole gmail wave (that’s googles 1 gb of free e-mail storage if you didn’t know)

So I decided to poke around at the new design and see exactly what i’m missing yet not at all. Well, yahoo mail has come a loooong way since I began using them about 4 years ago. Then I thought to myself, “I wonder if they have an email search function like gmail does?” OH! and they do! fancy that. Competition is crazy these days. I mean, I never thought about actually typing in a search phrase to find and email, I would always have to scroll through my usuall long list in different folders until I found what I wanted. Not anymore! The email search is here! I don’t know who thought of it first to put into an email service, yet it’s very handy for the 1000 mbs of storage google gives you for all your email. (By the way, I was thinking that the 100mbs yahoo offers is really nothing in comparison to google, yet google’s gmail is not open to the public yet, and yahoo used to only offer 6mbs of storage for a super long time)

So as you might be reading this, you may think, what is the freaking point of this post? Basically just a little review/discussion of the latest trends within the internet. It’s good that yahoo! is getting better with it’s space and functions and whatnot for mail. I always thought it was better than Hotmail yet what am I saying, I never ever ever jumped on that microsoft train. In conclusion, here is some screenshots of the new yahoo! mail. It has a bunch of features which is cool, but not cool enough for me to use it anymore than I already do.

I’m a special yahoo mail user!

By the way, I didn’t take any gmail screen shots because I’m sure it’s against there terms of service usage since they are in beta now, yet Yahoo! Mail is free to everybody right now!

Always more almost interesting writings coming soon….
